By Hannah Cedars:
There comes a point in every tenderhearted person’s life when they finally notice something they’ve been trying not to see:
The people you celebrate… don’t always celebrate you back.
It’s one of those truths we learn slowly, then all at once — a quiet ache that works its way under the ribs and sits there until we finally shine a light on it. Today, we’re shining that light together.
Because if you’re reading this, chances are high you know exactly what it feels like to clap for someone else until your palms sting… only to hear nothing but silence when your own moment comes around. Especially in today’s world with social media…. Little silly ‘THUMBS UP”, “HEARTS”, etc… mean the world sometimes. When no one offers a comment nor a thumbs up acknowledgement, no hearts, no “I hear ya”…….It’s kind of heart-shattering sometimes….just silence.
And that silence?
It’s louder than any applause could ever be.

The Generous Heart and the Quiet Ache
Some of us are givers by nature.
We see someone doing well, and it lights something inside us:
- “Look at you go.”, “Oh wow, SO happy for you!!’
- “I’m proud of you.”,
- “Keep going, you’ve got this.”
We share, we heart, we comment, we cheer.
And we do it sincerely — not out of obligation, but out of genuine joy.
But generosity has a way of revealing things…
especially when it’s met with silence.
It’s easy to start thinking:
- “Did I do something wrong?”
- “Why don’t they support me?”
- “Do they even care?”
- “Why do my life events feel invisible to the people I’ve known the longest?”
And that’s where the real ache begins — not because we need attention, but because acknowledgment is a human need. Connection is a human need. Reciprocity is a human need.
Even the softest hearts deserve to be seen.

Why Their Silence Isn’t About You (Even If It Hurts Like It Is)
Here’s a truth that took me years to understand:
People can carry opinions about you that never even came from their own experience.
Sometimes it’s family.
Sometimes it’s childhood friends.
Sometimes it’s folks who “heard something” once and let that echo shape the entire way they view you.
Truth be told, when it’s folks you grew up around who never clap for you, it’s entirely possible they don’t even realize it. They may be judging you through a lens handed down by someone else — someone who was carrying their own wounds, their own jealousy, or their own misunderstandings.
Life can be a real sour sucker that way.
You can treat someone with kindness your whole life and still pay the price for a story that never belonged to you.
And that’s the part nobody warns you about:
You can be punished for whispers you never caused.
You can be ignored for reasons that have nothing to do with your actual character.
That isn’t your failure.
That isn’t your flaw.
That isn’t your burden to carry.
Why Your Life Events Still Matter
When someone doesn’t acknowledge your:
- new home
- new project
- new direction
- new relationship
- new healing
- new victories
- new dreams
…it can make you feel like your life isn’t worthy of celebration.
But listen to me:
Your life events matter.
Your milestones matter.
Your quiet wins mean something.
Your growth is your goal.
Your joy matters.
Your survival means everything.
Always believe in YOU, Be the FIRST to applaud yourself.
Keep in mind, Someone else’s silence does not get the final say on your worth.
Some people stay silent because they’re uncomfortable with growth — especially your growth.
Some stay silent because they’re used to you being small.
Some stay silent because celebrating you would require them to confront their own lack of movement.
Some stay silent because they don’t know how to genuinely support anyone.
And some?
They simply don’t carry the same softness you do.
But none of that diminishes the significance of your journey.
You Were Not Built to Shrink
There will always be people
whose applause sounds like crickets.
Who watch from the sidelines
without ever reaching for the “like” button
or lifting their voice to say “I’m happy for you.”
But that silence?
It’s not a cue for you to shrink.
If anything, it is a reminder to stand tall — to continue being the person who claps loudly for others even when no one claps for you. That kind of heart is rare. That kind of strength is sacred. That kind of character cannot be taught.
Do not dim your light because others refuse to acknowledge its warmth.
You keep shining anyway.
You keep cheering anyway.
You keep loving anyway.
You keep rising anyway.
Because the world needs more people who can celebrate without jealousy…
and love without conditions…
and uplift without needing the spotlight for themselves.
People like you.

Let Their Silence Shape Your Wisdom… But Never Your Worth
Silence teaches us things.
It teaches us who is truly in our corner.
It teaches us who can handle our growth.
It teaches us who understands reciprocity.
It teaches us the difference between familiar faces and true supporters.
But silence should never teach us to doubt ourselves.
So hear me when I say:
Let their silence shape your wisdom…
but never your worth.
And sweetheart…
If nobody else says it, let me be the first to tell you — I’m proud of you.
I hear you.
I see you.
And please… keep giving this world your beautiful heart.
You deserve to be celebrated —
not because of what you achieve,
but because of who you are.
